もし７０年代に５弦ベースがあったなら、きっとこうなっていたはずです。スティングレイ５は７０年代中期から後期に生産された仕様にモダンな改良を加えたトリビュート・モデルです。裏通しブリッジ、ミュート・キット、小さめのニッケル・フレット、７.５インチＲの指板といったキーとなる仕様がミュージックマンの黎明期を思いおこさせます。調整が容易なイージー・アクセス・トラスロッド・アジャスト・ホイール採用のネック、６点止めボルトオンを採用により当時より頑丈な構造になっています。アッシュ・ボディ、２バンドEQ, ミュージックマン・アルニコ・ピックアップから作り出される往年のトーンは健在です。
